I just recently had the best seafood steamboat ever (well, up till now at least). My friends, hubby and I wanted to have Fatty Crab as a last minute meet up with each other but we suddenly recalled they close on Monday...alamak. As one of my friend is pregnant, we let her decide on where to go. However, it ended up that her hubby chose Damansara Village on her behalf since she did not have much cravings for any kind of food except for Penang food (LOL).

It was my hubby's and my first visit to this place which is located in Petaling Jaya (they have a branch in Imbi too). My friend warned us the place might be packed but thank goodness we were there on a weekday. Hence it was not that packed. Do keep in mind our friend did not "brief" us on this place so we thought it was just the normal kind of steamboat restaurant.

First thing I noticed was the setting of this restaurant. It felt comfortable and nice. However, when I saw the menu I got a shocked. In my mind I said "wow, for just a steamboat, this is expensive oh". As I looked more closely at the menu items, I noticed that they really had a variety of seafood and it looks good (in photo that is..hehe).

So we decided to take the set for 3-5 people which had fish as the main dish (Price was stated as RM135). Fish is my hubby's favourite and the problem he has with normal steamboat was that he does not eat any type of fishballs or fishcakes. So normally I end up eating more and he eats really little. So this steamboat seemed a little different to us. Anyways, our set came with a type of fish (you can choose between 3 different types of fish), clams, prawns, crabs and their standard set of steamboat items.

Below are the photos for you to help you judge it for yourselves :). Sorry for not taking photos of the restaurant. I was hungry and busy eating that I forgotten to take any :P

The only photo that is not food and part of the restaurant :P

Look at that! The whole pot filled with delicious looking seafood!

This was our main dish from our set - we chose the Taiwan promfret. It was oh! so FRESH!

The fresh clams were also delicious

The crabs looked a bit small to me at first but do not judge its book by its cover. It was fresh and sweet

Kupang and abalone

This is part of their standard set (did not manage to take photos of the noodles and egg..but well we were so full that we did not eat it anyway..LOL). I was not able to try out each and every one of them because there were so many choices. So far the ones I took were nice

I did not expect their fishballs to have "inti" in it...it was delicious

The ever so FRESH ALIVE prawns - I never really liked the idea of eating live food but it was so so so so so delicious. This was my hubby trying his best to put the prawns into the soup...BUT....

We needed help la...haha...so the staff helped us put the whole plate of LIVE prawns into the soup instead.

All in all, I had a very good experience in this restaurant and would highly recommend to those who wants to eat fresh seafood steamboat. We ended up spending around RM40 each but did not manage to finish the food :P

Well, not exactly because the owner is from Kluang. Whatever or wherever he is from, the beef noodles tasted good! Basically, it is similar to Seremban’s beef noodles with the salted vegetable, ground nuts, variety of beef parts and the soup. Difference between this shop and the ones in Seremban are:-

1. Option on the type of noodles: “lai fun” which is the original or “hor fun” \
or “bihun”
2. Option of which part of the beef: Few options are given as shown in the menu
3. Option to be served claypot style
4. A little bit pricier than Seremban beef noodles. However at certain shops in
Seremban, it differs only about RM1-2. It cost a minimum of RM8 per
bowl for this shop

I got to know about this place from a review from a local newspaper as shown below. The writer implied that the portion was small. However I do not feel it was small. It is just as much as other shops.

Conclusion about this shop:-
1. Beef was cooked to perfection (tender and soft)
2. Salted vegetable was nice
3. Soup was nice but the one at Seremban Pasar Besar is nicer :P
4. Noodles – to me the original “lou shi fan” or “lai fun” as they call it here
in KL, is the best. Does not taste so good with “hor fun”

I will definitely come back here again whenever I long for the beef noodles in Seremban

A snapshot of the article in a local newspaper introducing Uncle Cheng's Beef Noodles at SS2

The front view of Uncle Cheng's shop @ Jalan SS2/4A

Inside view of the shop. Clean and comfortable

Menu Selection

Mine was the Beef + Tripe + Beef Balls + Dry Meat with Lai Fun - RM9.50

Mine - after mixing

My mum decided to try the Hor Fun with Beef + Tripe + Beef Balls - RM8.00 (cheapest)

Location:-

Jalan SS2/4A, Petaling Jaya

Turn left at the traffic light just before reaching Kelana Jaya LRT station
I parked at the open car park at the end of these rows of shop houses (if not mistaken next to 99 Supermarket). Parking space is limited hence go earlier to get a parking spot.

Open daily except Wednesdays (9am - 4.30pm)

I have been using Photoscape software (FREE) to edit my photos (arrange few photos into grids) and post it in other websites. However, I found Picasa (FREE) to be more exciting and I am still exploring the other possibilites of making my pictures fun for viewing (plus I just need to post one photo instead of 10 photos to tell a story).

I am no expert yet but I would like to share the basics of using this software. I know there are people out there who would like to arrange their photos like me but just do not have the time to explore the steps to create them. Hence, I have created a step by step instruction on how to create one nice photo from a variety of photos. Hope this helps and when you have time, explore the programme more! :)

First download the software as shown below (http://picasa.en.softonic.com/)

Click the folder(s) containing the photos you want to choose from

Choose your photos by holding down the CTRL button on the keyboard and click using your mouse (just like how we would normally choose files or photos to copy/cut/etc)

Create your collage

Select how you would want to arrange your photos. You can choose Picture Pile, Mosaic, Grid, etc). In this post, I will be showing you examples of Picture Pile and Mosaic.

In "Picture Pile", your photos are automatically piled up together. You can re-arrange your photos anyhow you want. Choose the type of frame that you want (there are only two options apart from NO FRAME). I would have prefered if I could choose different types of frames just like Photoscape. You can also change the background colour of your page. Then click Create Collage

Edit further if you want to by adding text, or cropping or others (explore). In this example I added text.

Once finish, click "Export" to save your picture into your folder

And....VOILA!!!! A "Picture Pile" End Result!

Another example: Mosaic (To add frame for the photos, you have to edit the "grid spacing". You can also change the colour of the grid background)

And...VOILA!!! A "Mosaic" End Result!

You can always play around with the settings they have in Picasa. I have yet to explore all because I have only just started using it.

And...VOILA!!! A "Mosaic" but with different applied settings on it, End Result!

So hope you busy people out there will find this a helpful post in creating FUN FUN FUN photos in a few simple steps. Plus, ain't my little one CUTE??? :). I have always wanted to introduce my new family member here but just did not have the time. So here I introduce you to the new addition to my lovely family, little Ayden!

This article was out in todays' main papers here in Malaysia. The below is an extract from The Star newspaper.

I have been meaning to write on something like this, mainly due to the fact that I need HELP! I know the above article is about sugar intake. I think my sugar intake is fine. My opinion on this is that the drinks made outside are too sweet plus Malaysians love to make all those local desserts which uses too much sugar! Anyway, this is not what I wanted to talk about.

I think it all started when I was pregnant and now even after my baby is 4 months, I feel that I am so easily tempted with....FAST FOOD! I am not sure why but it may be for the convenience (annoying to think what to eat for dinner and fast food restaurants are EVERYWHERE!. Drive-thru and delivery services makes it so convenient especially when I am stuck in a jam. Fast food to me is not over the top delicious but I do get excited thinking about wedges, sundaes, and Zinger burger and Spicy McChicken and...OMG, it is a long list.

I need to stop myself now..but how? How to stop this hazardous temptation? The temptation to just drive-thru a fast food chain or the temptation to taste their food? It takes great effort from me just to pass a fast food place without stopping by especially after work. Help me!

(In my labels, I had to choose both "likes" and "dislikes". I like to eat fast food but dislike that I am so tempted by it and how it is so unhealthy)

Last night was my second time having my dinner here. The first time, my husband and I bumped into this place while finding for a steamboat place nearby. Since their main dish is suppose to be steam fish, and has fans of steam fish, we decided to give it a try. And we liked it and decided to bring my in-laws who are from up north and usually surrounded with good cheap food.

Sorry I’ve forgotten to take some pictures of the restaurant itself (next round perhaps? :P). It is just a simple air-conditioned restaurant. On the walls, you will see pictures of plants and fishes. The fish is their main attraction (as mentioned on their billboard itself). They only serve one kind of fish which is the Red Tilapia. The difference between their fish compared to the other restaurants is that they are bred somewhere in Bukit Tinggi. This is also true for some of their vegetables too which makes their fish taste very fresh and their vegetables sweet.

If you are into foods that are cooked elaborately with lots of ingredients, this is not the place for you. They serve their food in a very simple way, just like how we would cook at home. One thing you have to be wary is that all their fishes are small-medium size. One fish (with some other dishes) will be able to feed two people.

Below are some of their dishes we had last night:
Fish- Original Sauce (RM15)
The fish is sweet and the sauce though simple but complements the fish

Fish – Ginger Sauce (this is their so-called house special) (RM15)
Those that wants more taste for their fish, this would be a better choice than the above

Vegetable – Guidou Miao (till now I do not know what is this called in English) (RM8)
This vegetable is nice but I think they cooked it with a wee bit too much oil

Vegetable – Sweet potato leave (RM8)
This dish is not as oily as the above

Soup – Wintermelon with Scallop (RM6)
I love this soup although my husband did not like it so much because of the strong taste of the scallops

Other dishes we ordered including my first visit (I did not make it on time to take any photos)
1. Steam 3-types of egg (chicken egg, salted egg & century egg) – very nice but served in small portion fit for one person only. Those that like less salt in their dishes, this would be a great dish to order
2. Herbal Chicken Soup (RM6) – Very nice but like most herbal soup, there is a layer of oil on top
3. Drink – Water chestnut + sugar cane (RM3) – recommended too

Summary:
Price per person: Around RM20

YES!! It finally arrived
Front Cover

Back Cover

And...the DVD itself!!

Russell Peters!!! You are one heck of a funny man!

AK and I fell in love with Russell Peters like we fell in love with the Edamame :P (http://lyssapathoflife.blogspot.com/2010/06/where-can-i-find-this.html). I have to thank Steven (friend) who introduced me to him. Russell Peters is so far one of the funniest comedian in the world. For the record, I do not watch many stand-up comedies. Hence, please forgive me if you do not think so (introduce me to one if you have someone better..hehe). Well, even if he is not the BEST, at least he is AMAZINGLY HILARIOUS!! I introduced him to a few of my friends and they just loveeeeeee him :).

Since he is a Canadian-Indian, his best jokes are on the Indians. Other than that, his jokes revolve a lot around Asians, Arabs, Jews, cultures, sex, etc. I am sure you would know by now that he will NEVER be allowed to perform in Malaysia. I was excited and sad at the same time when my friend Anu (I introduced RP to her a few months back) told me she will have the opportunity to watch him in Australia. Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…..why not me??? But well, she did help me buy one of his shows on DVD and I was so excited when the package arrived.

AK and I did not waste a single minute to start watching it. It was great just laughing our asses off at home watching him for two days in a row :)

To those who have not heard of Russell Peters, go watch some of his clips on You Tube. Unless you are one of those who are sensitive to jokes, you will surely enjoy his show.

The first time I saw edamame I was grossed out by it because I thought it was the Chinese beans. But the first time I tasted it in Rakuzen, I fell in love with it. Boiled edamame with sprinkles of salt....YUMMMMMYYYY! I introduced it to my hubby and now he is a sucker for it too :)

We have been wondering and finding a place in KL (heck..in Malaysia perhaps) which sells fresh edamame so that we can boil/steam it ourselves and eat it as snacks. It is so much healthier than having junk food like 'keropok' and 'cookies'.

So anyone..anyone out there who knows where to get this in KL...PLEASEEEEEEEEEE tell me. I will reward you with $$ just to know where I can get this :P

Just a short summary before I start with the main story. AK and I have been together as a couple for 8 years plus now. When we got registered on our 7th year anniversary, whatever happened after that was the same as when we were just dating. Basically, we were like a married couple even before we signed the marriage certificate. We were in no mood (mainly financially) to do any wedding dinner or wedding shoot. Long story short, our parents said that it is a MUST for us to take the photo. My guess is for them to put it up in the house to show that their children is already married :P. My mum said it is a symbol in my house to show our marriage to people.

After having thought about it, we decided to go for a simple one..perhaps a total of 1-2 gowns. Why take so many when it will all end up in a photo album or a casing which will be kept under the bed or on the cupboard or in the store room? At last we did what all other married couples have done…chose a bridal studio, paid the deposit and went for our gown selection. In the middle of all these events, I got excited (like many other brides will be). Had so many ideas and thought that the “simple” one we were going for was just too simple…haha. And many friends will tell me it is a once in a lifetime thing. They were shocked that I had not much preparation done for the dinner and the photoshoot.

Anyway, we ended up taking a package with Keep Gallery which supposed to include 4 gowns for the shoot. However, we chose PD as our photoshoot location (as we love the beach a lot) and this location was counted “far” and we could only have 3 gowns in total. I had my gown selection on 27th May 2010 and was tempted to add another day for shooting (which is quite normal) because I thought that 3 gowns was just too little..hehe…see how much I changed? But I kept reminding myself that it would be a waste of money because after everything is over, the album will just be a dust collector. So…wish me luck that lots of my poses are good enough for the album! :)
Here are some photos of the “almost” made to the Top 3 gowns during our selection.

More photos to come..(snapshots during gown selection)

(see the video)

"Robots have replaced humans on assembly lines, battlefields, space missions and rescue operations. Now how about doing something useful, like sitting through endless meetings for you?

Meet the Anybots QB, a telepresence robot that can represent you in the office by sitting in conference rooms, going to meetings and rolling about through the cubicle farm. The whole time it does so, it displays a live webcam video of your face, while transmitting to you a live video and audio stream of whatever it’s looking at."

Hmmm...too bad it cannot type for me at work.

For the past week, I have heard this same comment from different individuals. "All girls are like that"

Well, the topic was centered on shopping. People think that all girls love shopping and making themselves pretty with make-up and accessories (not only guys thinks so but the girls too!). Believe it or not, but I know some girls (woman mostly..haha) does not really like to shop or spend time beautifying themselves. Either they are lying to me or it is really true.

I guess I am like the majority of girls. I always say to AK "If I was single and have no financial commitments, I think I will spend most of my salary on clothes, shoes, handbags, facial products,...etc". His reply was "If I was single, I would be spending on my dream car, hi-fi system, gadgets,..etc". Wow..his total expenditure can cover my whole lifetime supply of clothes and shoes and handbags and............hahahaha.

I would really recommend this place if you are a fan of steam fish…especially Steam Fish Head. As far as I know, there are two places that serve delicious and cheap fresh steam fish head in KL. One is the ever so famous Jalan Chan Sow Lin Steam Fish Head (will post this soon as I ate it quite awhile back..hehe). One more is my new found discovery (thanks to my hubby), Mun Kee Steam Fish Head at Off Jalan Imbi.
I have tried two kinds of steam fish head at Jalan Chan Sow Lin (spicy and non-spicy) and the non-spicy one at Mun Kee. Basically, both are very delicious because the fish they use is very fresh. Overall, here are some of the differences about these two places:-

1. Harder to find parking at Jalan Chan Sow Lin (if you found one, you will be charged RM 2) whereas there is a designated parking space for Mun Kee (and it is a free parking if you eat there. Remember to have your ticket stamped before you leave)
2. The shop at Jalan Chan Sow Lin is small and very old whereas Mun Kee is located at a more open space hawker centre. There are also other stalls at this hawker centre selling other types of food.
3. The prices are cheap at both places. However, if I am not mistaken, the price for Jalan Chan Sow Lin is a little lesser than Mun Kee.
Personally, I would prefer Mun Kee as it is nearer to my place and the place has better ventilation than Jalan Chan Sow Lin.

Enjoy the photos of the mouth watering dishes at Mun Kee:-

Photo taken from the parking lot

Ta-da..the delicious Steam Fish Head (medium size according to the boss however it was huge. Enough for 4 person. RM 26)

Beansprouts (A big plate for only RM 5)

Steam Pork with salted fish (yummy and at RM 12)

Thumbs up by my dad :)

The way to a happy family is through their stomach..hahaha
